Below is a copy of a post I placed on the Trumpet Herald following my purchase of a new Stomvi S1 from Stomvi USA:
“As I mentioned in another post, I just picked up a Stomvi S1 from Stomvi USA. The S3 and other models seem to be commented on more often. Like all Stomvis, fit and finish are excellent. The silver plate is phenomenal. The trumpet is lighter than my standard weight Bachs, but not quite as light as the Getzen 700/900. It reminds me of the older Benge Bbs when picking it up. The blow is similar to the Jupiter 1600i; compared to a Bach 180/37, it requires a little less air on the initial attack. Feedback behind the bell is excellent. The horn really rings and feels very vibrant in the hands. All in all, it fits everything I was looking for in a new horn. As always, dealing with John and K.O. at Stomvi is a pleasure, which really is the primary reason I chose this particular instrument. Truly, there are a LOT of Bbs that would be a good fit for most players. Stomvi is definitely one that should be on more folk’s list when getting ready to buy.”
I have had the instrument for more than 2 weeks and have played it on a big band job (2nd trumpet) and a number of services at my church. I enjoy this Bb more and more each time I pick it up. Lightweight, with a very even scale from top to bottom, great valves; I could go on, but while Stomvi positions this as an intermediate trumpet, it plays well above that and should find more consideration for those looking for an all around Bb trumpet at an excellent price. The customer service is beyond excellent with K.O. and John.
