Having had a great experience with the S14AVR DaVinci on my Bb trumpet, I finally took the plunge on the piccolo version. I have been doing battle with my cheap piccolo for several years now. I found a mouthpiece setup that almost worked, but still suffered in long rehearsals and performances. I received the new DaVinci piccolo mouthpiece a couple of weeks ago and took it to my community orchestra Messiah rehearsal last night. In the past I would run out of chops halfway through the rehearsal and my playing was a total clambake. In last night’s dress rehearsal I only scratched two notes, and only because I wasn’t paying attention. My tone is clearer, intonation is better, and I have more endurance. At the end of last night’s rehearsal I felt like I could go another hour.
This new DaVinci mouthpiece is a big step toward finally taming the wee beastie. Thanks K.O. and crew!
