Classic Look… Revolutionary Performance
The goal: “Design a trumpet mouthpiece that is significantly easier to play by making the notes feel closer together.”
In other words, make the slots wider and therefore easier to move from partial to partial or octave to octave.
This increases bandwidth and thus harmonic engagement.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes DaVinci Mouthpieces different?
Designed using acoustic science, DaVinci mouthpieces have a linear intonation pattern and true damping.
This intonation pattern means as you play from register to register the intonation stays accurate. You don’t have to adjust your chops as is often the case with conventional mouthpieces.
True (or correct) damping adjusts the slots, making them “feel” very close so moving from note to note or octave to octave is easier. True damping also promotes greater bandwidth and more harmonic engagement for a sound rich in harmonics.
Who are DaVinci Mouthpieces for?
Classical and Commercial players from beginner to professional – especially early adopters and those looking to explore the latest technology.
The variety of cup shapes allows for virtually every player to find a Flex DaVinci that works for their musical needs.
Are these the same as the other Flex Mouthpieces?
No. Flex DaVinci Mouthpieces are the most advanced mouthpieces in the Flex line.
How do I know which DaVinci Mouthpiece I should get?
See Comparison Guides above. If your mouthpiece is not listed or you have questions, please contact us via phone or email and we will do our best to help you.

Why do DavInci Mouthpieces come with three Flex Couplers?
Adjusting the gap from the end of the mouthpiece to the start of the lead pipe is extremely important in maximizing the performance of your setup: Basic Gap Information
The increased bandwidth of DaVinci mouthpieces causes them to react differently to gap changes which allows most players to function well with either a #3, #4 or #5 Flex Coupler (included).
If you decide you would like to experiment by further fine tuning your gap, consider our Flex Coupler Add On 5 Pack.

WOW!! I’m so happy I’m reached out to KO. The Stomvi DaVinvi FLEX mouthpiece is incredible! I have the M4G and the DaVinci, both with the S13A VR. After struggling with my Schilke 13A4, the DaVinci with the 4 coupler helped open up my sound and is easier to control. The couplers give me options in different venues and styles of playing. I recommend giving Stomvi a try, a good mouthpiece is an investment in your future career in music. I was very fortunate to talk with Gary Bast, a local Stomvi expert, that recommended different options and suggested I call Stomvi. KO was excellent and great to talk to, exchanging career experiences and his recommendations. Very simple, make the call and explain what you’re looking for, you will be happy with Stomvi!

I recently had Thompson Music get a DaVinci 14A GVR from K.O. for me. I don’t know what kind of voodoo KO and his team have brought to this mouthpiece design but it definitely makes everything easier and better for me. My sound is now amazing, the response of the horn is like lightning and so clear. My endurance has vastly improved because I’m not fighting the instrument any longer. To literally be able to sound better than ever with WAY less work while playing after 22 years away from the horn is something no other mouthpiece comes close to providing. DaVinci mouthpieces truly are that different.

for my trumpet nerd friends:
Just got back from a great trip to LA, where I got to see my sister and brother-in-law, best friends Bobby Burns, Bob Slack, and Charley Davis – but also had a fabulous session with K.O. Skinsnes of Stomvi-USA and Flex DaVinci mouthpieces.
All of us trumpet players have been subjected to the mouthpiece safari, b.s., marketing based on b.s., and more b.s…
I flew out to LA to get with K.O. because I know him to be science-based, and he didn’t try to “sell” me anything.
After a very hip and fascinating fitting, I came away with a great piece of hardware that I’m excited about. Response, timbre, even-ness, all the things I’ve been looking for. Mouthpiece honeymoon? Sure, could be, but several days into it, better and better, and yesterday on the gig – it was fabulous. I’m psyched.
I’m mentioning this in public as a shout-out to a guy who’s treated me great for many years, and who has a great product – check him out.
Sam Tannen –
I’ve been playing lead on a 3GVR Vs for a few years, and I really didn’t think it could get any better in terms of efficiency and response. I had the opportunity to try the DaVinci line at the Midwest Clinic, and when I expressed my interest, K.O. was smart enough to make an extra 3GVR D because he figured I would buy. How right he was. The slots feel closer together as advertised, letting me get around the horn with greater ease, yet, the sound is twice as broad for half the effort. Most remarkably, the intonation is much improved; the notes aren’t flattening out with increased volume nor as one ascends the harmonic series. The only task in front of me now is to untrain the habits I’ve built to compensate for microscopic discrepancies in pitch on specific notes, seeing as I can now blow straight ahead in perfect tune at any volume. K.O. and Gary really have figured it out on these DaVinci mouthpieces and I can’t wait to see how my playing is refined as a result in the coming months.
Clifford Beckley (verified owner) –
It really does what the marketing says it does… The octaves feel so much closer together, I’m not searching for the higher register like I have on other mouthpieces. Its phenomenally in tune, the blow is smooth, and the ability to adjust the gap is its own game changer. I’ll never buy another mouthpiece again, unless for some reason I need another one of these. I’m sold.

Fellow trumpet player and friend Gary Bast helped R&D this mouthpiece for Stomvi USA, along with K.O., Stomvi USA’s President and mouthpiece designer. Gary is a sound engineer and outstanding trumpet player and has been a mouthpiece consultant and designer for Stomvi USA for years. He is our lead trumpet in Elm Street Jazz Workshop. He also plays in the renowned Allentown Band and is first chair in the Macungie Band, He also plays professionally locally in various settings such as pit orchestras, etc. Gary started bringing his new mouthpiece into Elm Street and it really made a huge difference in his sound and range. His sound got very big and fat and his range increased significantly! Two of us in the trumpet section ordered the new mouthpiece from Stomvi USA the minute it was in production. Both of us love the new mouthpiece. For me it seemed to make playing much easier and also increased my range and a bigger sound. Articulation also got easier. Just a great mouthpiece, Gary and K.O. hit a home run with the DaVinci! I’m a comeback player after twenty years off. This new mouthpiece has worked miracles for me, making playing so much easier and enjoyable. It has helped solve a lot of issues with my embouchure, range and sound. I highly recommend this ground breaking mouthpiece from a comeback players’ experience. I’ve been playing on the DaVinci now since it fist came out and it will most likely be the last mouthpiece I own, no need to try any others. Thank you Gary and K.O. and Stomvi USA for your contribution to making a huge difference in a comeback players’ abilities through the DaVinci mouthpiece
Ed Cann –
I am a comeback player after a twenty year layoff. I play in three groups, a pops orchestra, a Concert band and a Big Band. I have several professional trumpets , An Early Elkhart Bach 37 Strad which I use in Orchestra, a HN WHITE King 1055t Silver Flair that I favor for Big Band , a Getzen 900 DLX with copper bell and a Getzen Severinsen circa 1965. I enjoy playing all these horns but one issue is using the same mouthpiece for all of them, since each has a different gap. A friend turned me on to Stomvi’s Flex mouthpieces with interchangeable couplers. That definitely helped but I was still lacking something in tone quality. I play in the Big Band with Gary Bast who helped design the Davinci mouthpiece for Stomvi and he suggested I try it out. I ended up ordering one of the first mouth pieces in production and WHAT A MOUTHPIECE! I’ve been playing it for several months now in all three groups on all of my various professional horns. According to my professional trumpet teacher it has given me a fatter sound , great articulation and improved my upper range. Others I play with have noticed this as well, asking me about the new mouthpiece. I can’t speak highly enough about Stomvi’s Davinci Flex Mouthpiece or how easy and professional Stomvi is to deal with. As a comeback player it has made a huge difference, making playing so much more pleasurable and easier. I’m a fairly frugal individual , recently retired on a fixed income so I’m very careful with my finances. Spending $325 for a mouthpiece as an amateur player is a big step, at least it was for me. Well the return on my investment purchasing the Davinci has improved my playing so much that it was worth every penny! I don’t endorse products or companies ever but I believe other comeback players should check this mouthpiece out. It has made a world of difference for me and it works with all my trumpets , unlike other mouthpieces I have played in the past. I highly recommend Stomvi as a company as well as the new Davinci mouthpiece! Give KO a call and he will guide you with his expertise help , he is a real pleasure to talk with, extremely knowledgeable and the other half of the Davinci mouthpiece design team with Gary. I encourage any comeback player who wants to greatly improve their trumpet playing experience to give the Stomvi Davinci mouthpiece a chance to greatly improve your artistic ability, performance and playing pleasure!
George VanDoren –
Last summer a friend of mine got hold of a prototype Stomvi Davinci mouthpiece. He asked me to listen as he played on the old mouthpiece and then the Davinci. Wow!! His tone, normally quite good, was amazing! Richer, fuller, beautiful. I wanted one.
When the Davinci mouthpieces were ready for sale, I ordered a 12GVR Davinci, the same as my 12 GVR VS except for whatever magic they did at Stomvi. Again I immediately noticed the rich, full, beautiful tone. My horn just seemed easier to play. The notes flowed with less effort. In the upper register I noticed that the intervals seemed closer together and, consequently, easier to play. I have been playing on the mouthpiece for a few months now for all types of music from classical to jazz to brass ensemble. I love it and I strongly recommend the Stomvi Davinci mouthpiece for anyone who plays trumpet.
Bryan Fields –
For several years now my favorite all-around mouthpiece has been my Flex 3FVR/J6. K.O. threaded my Warburton 4 rim onto it and it’s been wonderful. A few years back I picked up an S14AVR/VS on eBay, more out of curiosity than anything else. The rim contour on the S14 is very compatible with my WB 4 rim – almost no difference in contour. Nonetheless. I have used it sparingly because it’s been decades since I played lead in college and I haven’t had a need for it. Recently I found an S14AVR-DaVinci on eBay for a very good price, so I bought it, again, out of curiosity. I spent a week just practicing on the S14AVR/VS mouthpiece to acclimate, and then did some serious testing of the DaVinci version to compare the two. The first couple of days were rough because I was overshooting or undershooting pitches like crazy, but by the third day I was drilling high notes in a way I have only dreamed of and the sound opened up in all registers. I feel young again!
An added bonus is that because this mouthpiece requires less pressure and less embouchure adjustment, that feeling is translating to my conventional equipment as well and my playing is improving on every mouthpiece and horn that I own. You guys are magicians!

The new DaVinci line of mouthpieces are incredible!
I loved my JM Flex before but this takes it to a whole ‘nother level
More sound – by that I mean more harmonics on every note in the entire scale which makes playing even easier
More sound, less work I was a bit skeptical when I read about it but I am sure glad I got one!
Javier Gonzalez –
I first came to KO at Stomvi USA around 2008 to try some mouthpieces. After a few visits we found a combination that worked for my daily grind. Since then, he’s come out with new designs and each version replaced what I’ve trusted as to be “the one.” Always improving the design without compromising what I loved of the previous version. This new version, THE DAVINCI, has taken what I’ve trusted and replaced it again. The difference is huge on this design. Connecting multiple octaves, whether ascending or descending, has become easier. The sound, being the most difficult to describe, is bigger and warmer yet easy to make it sizzle when the temperature is right. Easier to play loud and soft without losing control. Intonation is easier to predict and the harmonics, with the trumpet(4VE) I pair it with, is incredible. Since then, I’ve upgraded the rest of my mouthpieces to THE DAVINCI and hoping the design is able to find its way to the piccolo and flugelhorn. I highly recommend everyone to give THE DAVINCI a test drive to hear and feel the difference.
Doyle Cooper –
Stomvi Flex DaVinci 5GVR mouthpiece review.
Excellent mouthpiece with sound and easier upper register.
I would recommend you calling and talking to K.O. about what you need in a mouthpiece and let him help find you a great fit.
Cory Driscoll –
When I first heard that KO was creating a new mouthpiece, obviously I knew I had to have it! Since I started playing on the Flex mouthpieces, close to 15 years ago, everything became easier and sounded better. In my mind it was hard to imagine that he was going to be able to improve on what I already had. Then I had the opportunity to play his new DaVinci line at ITG this year and was completely blown away. I asked if I could just walk away with the new 5DVR I was playing.
The difference I heard between the old 5 series I played and the new D series is the presence of more “mid-tones” in the overall balance of the sound, really filling it out. When I played it, I said that this is exactly what I heard in my head. Having it for a couple months now I am enjoying it more than ever, and am outfitting the rest of my lineup with the new DaVinci series. The intervals are so much easier to play through and register changes doesn’t affect the sound at all. It’s consistent and even.Thank you KO!
Terry Seregely –
I have been a stomvi customer for many years, both trumpets, flugelhorns and mouthpieces. I’ve come to trust KO. His claims and descriptions have always been accurate. So when he approached me with the davinci concept (before it was called davinci) I was excited because of his excitement. My first switch was to an S6a which was my primary piece. The sound of the d version compared to my old mouthpiece is amazing. The sound is even more resonant than my previous one and the slots are very secure. I moved a half step coupler wise and never looked back. We recently made the move to Jacksonville and I found a home in a couple groups requiring lower, softer precise playing. So i went back to my s13fvr . I immediately ordered the d version of this one, and have had multiple compliments on the sound in the band. This new design is the real deal. Stomvi hardware is designed based strictly on acoustic science not airflow. They are the only ones doing this that I know of. But the most important thing is the sound. Every change I’ve made (with KO’s advice) has gotten me closer to the sound in my head.
Jon Manness –
I upgraded my 12F and LynnFlex to the latest DaVinci designs and the first thing I noticed was the sound. It was as if I was playing in a more reverberant room. The tone is pure and lively. The second thing I noticed was the flexibility and dynamic control. The notes were where I expected them to be and I could play musical excerpts softer and louder than before. Without changing my approach, I’m seriously blown away by how much better I sound and how much easier it is to play!
Doyle Cooper –
K.O. made me a DaVinci 5GVR . Unbelievable amount of sound and ease of playing. The registers are indeed closer together. Once you adjust to that you will total sold on the concept. I ask for a mouthpiece that I could get a Chet Baker sound with easier high notes. At age 59 I can’t hit the screaming high notes anymore but a G above high C comes fairly ease. Just talk with K.O. and describe what you are sound you are after and He will work his magic.
