Yamaha Shew Lead Rim – Inner Diameter = .640″ (16.26 mm)
Our YSL VR Flex trumpet mouthpiece is great if you’re coming from a Yamaha Shew Lead. It’s VR style cup and overall balance between the cup, throat, bore, and backbore give it an amazing, resonant sound for very little effort.
Players coming from a Yamaha Shew lead or equivalent report our Flex YSL VR is 10-30% easier to play with better intonation and a more resonant sound.
This is due to our advanced acoustic design and Flex Alloy.

So now I have played for four days in a row with my new “YSL Vr flex mouthpiece” and I felt so comfortable at once so I played three concerts whith it, which is not really what I use to do when I change to a new mpc. I come from a Yamaha Shew lead so the rim was there at once.
I feel with so few days it’s remarkable how I find my endurance, projection and tone quality (especially in the middle range) feels better. In the high range it felt secure with great projection and a big sound.
I just have to say congratulations to your development of a great mouthpiece and I am so glad that I took the chance to try it out.
THANKS Kasper!!!!!!

I have played a Yamaha Shew for as long as I can remember. Anytime I tried a new mp, I always went back to my Shew. The YSL VR felt so good, I used it to record my lead parts with the Dennis Noday/Lee Harris CD 2 days after I got it and I haven’t looked back since. The high register is open and powerful, but the sound is full and even in all the registers. I really don’t like to sacrifice the lower half of the notes on a lead mouthpiece. It feels like less work, and the slots are a bit tighter and that helps with accuracy. I use the 4.5 flex and it gets the gap in just the right spot. If I switch horns, I don’t have to worry where the gap is with the 3 flex couplers it came with. Well done!

I originally made the change from a Marcinkiewicz Shew Lead which I had been playing on for 10 years. Currently I have been on the YSL VR for 5 years now and I continue to growth with the setup. So much so; that I am ordering another one in the new CC version. I will let you know how it goes! Keep up the innovation Stomvi!
